Fostering Young Lives

Josh

When Josh first arrived at his new foster home, he felt a bit overwhelmed. Two grown-ups plus two bigger kids seemed a lot to get used to. Past experience had taught him that people can't always be trusted, so initially, the only family member he warmed up to was Oscar the dog.

He's been with his family for almost a year now, and things are very different. He plays soccer with his big foster brother, knows he can ask for help with homework if he needs it, and looks forward to dinner times when the family all sits down together.

It helped that they share a common culture. They can speak to each other in English or in Arabic, and that helped Josh feel at home.

When Josh grows up he wants to build houses - big houses for families with playrooms and bedrooms for each of the kids, just like the house he lives in now... and he likes daydreaming about all the different families who will live there.
